Dred Scott II

http://www.correntewire.com/dred_scott_ii

This has to be the most chilling article I’ve read at a blog I rarely if ever visit. However, the subject matter shows us that 0bowma is following in the foot steps of his big brother and that this administration is merely a continuation of Bush 2.

After hearing passionate arguments from the Obama Administration, the Supreme Court acquiesced to the president’s fervent request and, in a one-line ruling, let stand a lower court decision that declared torture an ordinary, expected consequence of military detention, while introducing a shocking new precedent for all future courts to follow: anyone who is arbitrarily declared a “suspected enemy combatant” by the president or his designated minions is no longer a “person.” They will simply cease to exist as a legal entity. They will have no inherent rights, no human rights, no legal standing whatsoever — save whatever modicum of process the government arbitrarily deigns to grant them from time to time, with its ever-shifting tribunals and show trials.

Barack Obama has now declared, openly, of his own free will, that he does not consider [Guantanamo prisoners Shafiq Rasul, Asif Iqbal, Rhuhel Ahmed and Jamal al-Harith] to be “persons.” They are, literally, sub-humans. And what makes them sub-humans? The fact that someone in the U.S. government has declared them to be “suspected enemy combatants.” (And note: even the mere suspicion of being an “enemy combatant” can strip you of your personhood.)

There is much more at this link — go and read it and give these guys as many hits today as possible — because the subject matter is too important. WHO the hell are we as a nation? How will history see us and judge this character that now occupies the big white house of the people? Is this what the 0bots fought for — is this their messiah — the ONE the anti-war fella?

The next article is more about human rights of women and the fact that Stupak and Pits are in fact American Taliban and their aim is to reduce women’s status even more than it already is. Women are, to these throw backs to the 14th century, so inferior to men that women are probably not even considered full human beings to the religious order that Stupak and Pitt belong to.

[snip]

Bart Stupak and Joseph Pitts are members of the C Street Family, an evangelical cult that is firmly dedicated to the belief that women are inferior to men.  Of course they object to abortion rights, and it has nothing to do with fetuses.  There’s a reason they get all puffed up about the government paying for abortion, which they take to mean that the government is endorsing sexual liberation and women’s equality, and they cannot abide by that.  Whenever someone at a tea bagger meeting gets up and spits about how abortion isn’t health care, you have to understand that from their point of view, it isn’t.  It’s like saying lingerie and dildos are “health care” to them.  It doesn’t compute.  Abortion is , in their eyes, a strike made by women against their god-given second class roles, and the actual medical reality of it doesn’t even register.

If you take them at their word about “life”, then yeah, the Stupak-Pitts amendment doesn’t make even an ounce of sense.  But if you see this in terms of battles over sex and women’s liberation, then their stance is surprisingly consistent, if evil. [snip]

There is more at the link above, again this is well worth reading.

Several blogs are blathering on about that golfer — Tiger Woods. No comment.

The *&*&^% media seems to be giving HIM the ONE — 0bowma full credit for some sort of agreement coming out of that Copenhagen mess. We already know that 0bowma is completely incapable of being any sort of facilitator . A little over a year ago the Dems had 0bowma “chair” a meeting during the so-called financial crisis — and the meeting disintegrated into a yelling match. A narcissist is incapable of facilitating a meeting in a professional manner. Someone else did the work and the ONE — HIM blew into town to do his bows — or have the media kiss his whatever.

We will have to wait for the details to filter down to us the unwashed, ignorant poor folk. Hopefully a neutral third-party will get to read the documents and then provide a non BS translation.

The blog – Cooks and Liars has an article up called”Climate Change for idiots”

http://crooksandliars.com/nonny-mouse/climate-change-idiots

On September 11, 2001, our world changed forever.

And not just because of the obvious. For three days after the attack on the World Trade Center, all commercial aviation came to a standstill in the United States. For the first time since 1914, when Tony Jannus piloted a wooden, open-air Benoist XIV biplane in the first commercial passenger-carrying airline flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa, Florida, traffic in the friendly skies above the amber waves of grain came to a screeching halt. And in those three crucial days, our entire understanding of global warming underwent a fundamental transformation.

There is much more at the link above.

Naomi Klein (who wrote the Shock Doctrine) has an article at the UK’s Guardian online news, Better to have no deal at Copenhagen than one that spells catastrophe.

Matthew Stilwell of the Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development – one of the most influential advisers in these talks – says the negotiations are not really about averting climate change but are a pitched battle over a profoundly valuable resource: the right to the sky. There is a limited amount of carbon that can be emitted into the atmosphere. If the rich countries fail to radically cut their emissions, then they are actively gobbling up the already insufficient share available to the south. What is at stake, Stilwell argues, is nothing less than “the importance of sharing the sky”.

Read more of what Klein has to say about the Copenhagen agreement.

What Klein’s article says to me as well as the blog article about Climate Change for idiots is that although there are skeptics and deniers that there is enough consensus among real climate scientists that the wealthy advanced countries are making sure that their National interests are being protected.

So what was the motive for the programmers of the Climate modeling software to sex up their data by leaving out a large chunk of the Russian weather records? Was this just arrogance?[This new twist to ClimateGate is discussed in the article below with links to the article about the Russians discovery of the Climate Research Unit cherry picking Russian weather records.]

The problem is that this isn’t the first time that scientists have sexed up data and used computer modeling  software to make  potential natural disaster appear more dramatic.Too bad we don’t have a time machine — we could send someone to the future to learn which of the theories is correct or if a variable not even considered has a major impact on the climate of the future.
