Corporate fascism had arrived

Evidently the oil spill from that BP deep water rig off the coast of Louisiana was due to multiple screw ups. Then we get to witness another bunch of corporate big wigs testifying before Congress while point fingers at the other guy for this horrendous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Here’s an interesting detail — which Engineers in the field will identify with — the Engineers on the oil rig were trying to operate a critical piece of equipment that didn’t match the diagrams they were supplied by the manufacturer of the equipment.

WASHINGTON — In the days after an oil well spun out of control in the Gulf of Mexico, BP engineers tried to activate a huge piece of underwater safety equipment but failed because the device had been so altered that diagrams BP got from the equipment’s owner didn’t match the supposedly failsafe device’s configuration, congressional investigators said Wednesday.

The oil well also failed at least one critical pressure test on the day that gas surged up the drill pipe and set the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig aflame, killing 11 and setting off a spill that has spewed 210,000 gallons of crude into the gulf every day for three weeks, according to BP documents provided to congressional investigators.

First of all BP informed the US that no plan for a major spill was needed because of the superior equipment used on oil rigs was failure proof — that massive oil spills were  so 20th Century. There weren’t enough oil booms in place to handle a oil spill of this magnitude.

All of this is bad enough but now the White house is scrambling to  protect their sugar daddy the corporations, especially the OIL corporations from paying for their arrogance and the mess THEY have caused. So the tax payers are being asked to fork over another $10 million so that the White house can protect the oil companies from law suits.

I really do hate being right about 0bama — he is owned completely by the corporations who funded his campaign.  He really should be wearing suits bearing all the corporate logos — so that we know just who he is working for.
