Silent Coup, Military spying on World’s Civilians. Shadow Coup — who are the leaders?
As the details of the USG and US military spying leak out to the media we still don’t know exactly who the real players are. What we do know is that the US military knows how to manipulate the news media and that during their US military’s occupation of Iraq the US military leadership learned how to “divide and conquer”. The culture of the military is to treat all “civilians” as the enemy — I know this because of my direct, first hand experience of military indoctrination as a military depended living and growing up on military bases.
“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.” – James Madison*
What is done — can it not be undone? All we civilians have on our side is the US Constitution — which has been over ridden and rewritten by secret courts and secret laws. The US Supreme Court is completely complicit in this coup — it started, some say, with the Supreme Court declaring GW Bush the “winner” back at the turn of the century. President Dwight Eisenhower warned us about the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex. But who could have guessed way back in the early post WWII era that the military would become so powerful that their officers would spear head massive spying on the world’s civilians. Who is the military really working for — there has to be a goal in collecting and organizing all of this data. We know that thousands of civilian corporate employees, law enforcement and the military has access to this massive database. Booze Allen is the big civilian corporation that we know about, thanks to Whistle blower Edward Snowdon and others. We know that the military makes extensive use of contractors — for everything to guarding military base gates, food service and laundry are just a few of the examples of military out sourcing.
Glenn Greenwald and the Washington Post we learn today that “collect it all” is the goal of the NSA director, Gen. Keith Alexander:
The crux of the NSA story in one phrase: ‘collect it all’
The actual story that matters is not hard to see: the NSA is attempting to collect, monitor and store all forms of human communication.
Absolutely nothing is private. Many of us who follow politics, as if it were a soap opera, knew that a new game was afoot when retire General Petraeus and head of the CIA abruptly resigned as director of the CIA — brought down by a FBI agent, a social butterfly and the exposure of his private business by the FBI. What the FBI did was to hack into a personal email account, read all the private messages of a man fooling around and then probably force him to resign. One would think that Petraeus would have known that no email is private — unless the email is encrypted and it is only a matter of time before the US military can unencrypt any data file except in a few rare exceptions. If the FBI can invade the privacy of the director of the CIA, then who are we the people to want to retain our Constitutional right to Privacy. So rude of us! (I personally never trusted Petraeus and thought he was dishonest — as did many who were critical of the US war on Iraq. The fact remains that the blackmail of Petraeus through hacking his personal email can happen to anyone. Too many people have access to the vast database of personal trivia collected by the USG.)
So the leaders of this coup have dismissed the Constitution, unless a phrase or Amendment can be used to further “their” goals. Right now all eyes are on Obama as the “leader”. Obama may be the President but he is not a leader — that just isn’t part of his personality structure. He reads scripts, written by others, he is the teleprompter President. Without a teleprompter he is speechless. Obama really had very little leadership experience — other than his voice and ability to read the teleprompter. He is the ultimate talking head. What we might be able to lay at his feet are the drone attacks and the witch hunts for whistle blowers — only history and an honest historian will be able to untangle who the “real” Obama is.
“Follow the money“, the quote comes from the film, All the President’s Men — in this case the President was Nixon. Those of us who remember the Nixon presidency can see similar behavior. Nixon bugged a vast number of individuals. I personally knew one of his bugging victims — her husband was a Federal Prosecutor and their home was bugged. “How can you live there?” I asked her. She told me that they learned to self censor and they were always aware that their words and actions were being closely monitored on order the President. Nixon was out of control. History does repeat — only this time the political party of the President has changed. Absolute power corrupts absolutely — we are also seeing this truism play out on the world stage.
Personally I don’t believe the real power behind the Silent Coup has any party affiliation — this person or group of powerful people can blackmail anyone to obey their dictates. In general powerful, mega rich people aren’t happy and they always want more power and more money.
Rich! Happy? Not really
Studies show that lottery winners, heiresses, and the 100 richest Americans are only slightly more satisfied than the guy toiling for his pay in the generic office-park cubicle. Still, mere mortals find it difficult to allow that an extra digit or two on the paycheck won’t put a permanent smile on our faces.
Perhaps the reason for this coup, which seems to be following the plot in Orwell’s book 1984, is to somehow force everyone to be submissive and to be lulled by the corporate media talking heads into blind obedience to the all knowing Zardoz (Sean Connery film, Science Fiction, 1974).
Democracy is messy. Way back in the mid 90s I was in Japan, at an International conference. Some of the Russians attending this conference (Animal Behavior — nothing spooky) had just come from the barricades — the old empire was crumbling. We Americans told the Russians not to worry that Democracy was messy. Who would have guessed that oh so many years later the US Military is spying on the world’s civilians? The leaks and information about this US coup are mind boggling. Yet at the same time — not surprising.
If Obama were a true leader — this spying and witch hunt of whistle blowers wouldn’t be happening. Obama has a very weak personality — he is extremely rigid and he needs a mentor. His weak personality traits and lack of leadership skills are the major reasons I could never vote for Obama — because I knew that someone else would be pulling his strings. WE don’t know who the shadow coup leaders are or what their motives are. We can only guess as we live through this era.
*edited to add James Madison quote.
Update 16 July 2013:
And here I thought I was all alone in making the bold observation that a coup is happening in the US. Paul Craig Roberts has come to a similar conclusion. “Coup d’etat by Paul Craig Roberts:
The basis of the regime in Washington is nothing but usurped power. The Obama Regime, like the Bush/Cheney Regime, has no legitimacy. Americans are oppressed by an illegitimate government ruling, not by law and the Constitution, but by lies and naked force. Those in government see the US Constitution as a “chain that binds our hands.”
. . . . . .
Like serfs in the dark ages, American citizens can be picked up on the authority of some unknown person in the executive branch and thrown in a dungeon, subject to torture, without any evidence ever being presented to a court or any information to the person’s relatives of his/her whereabouts. Or they can be placed on a list without explanation that curtails their right to travel by air. Every communication of every American, except face-to-face conversation in non-bugged environments, is intercepted and recorded by the National Stasi Agency from which phrases can be strung together to produce a “domestic extremist.”
If throwing an American citizen in a dungeon is too much trouble, the citizen can simply be blown up with a hellfire missile launched from a drone. No explanation is necessary. For the Obama tyrant, the exterminated human being was just a name on a list.
The president of the united states has declared that he possesses these constitutionally forbidden rights, and his regime has used them to oppress and murder US citizens. The president’s claim that his will is higher than law and the Constitution is public knowledge. Yet, there is no demand for the usurper’s impeachment. Congress is supine. The serfs are obedient.
